woman wanted for deceiving Pune Techie detained | Pune News

Pune: Reema Sandhu (47), a foreign language tutor from Mumbai, wanted by Koregaon Park police here since December last year in a case of cheating a technician out of Rs9.25 lakh after contacted through a matrimonial site, was found and caught in Goa.
Sandhu would post fake profiles on marriage sites to target potential brides and collect huge sums from them, police said.

“In 2018, Hyderabad Police arrested Sandhu for cheating a Hyderabad technician out of Rs3.50lakh. She then got bail,” said Inspector Deepali Bhujbal of Koregaon Park Police. “Her bank account details revealed that she was withdrawing money from her accounts in Goa. We found her in a bungalow in Goa on Friday,” Bhujbal added.
“Our team produced Sandhu in a municipal court, which ordered his detention until April 5,” Bhujbal said. “Sandhu is also charged with deceiving another man in Mumbai to the tune of Rs3lakh,” he said.
In the Pune case, the technician had filed a complaint with the Koregaon Park police on December 20. He contacted her after coming across her profile. The woman had told the complainant that her family was going through a real estate dispute and needed the money for it. After hearing her pleas, he made several online payments to the woman.
“Sandhu took language lessons from students aspiring to join foreign universities. During her interrogation, she told the police that all her relatives had died and that she was left alone. We are verifying his claims,” he added.
